Kris appears to be a normal teenager. It’s not until you try to communicate with her that you realize there is something different about her. She was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Development Disorder) at the age of two and is nonverbal. Now in eighth-grade, Kris’s life skills class is very active outside of the school building, participating in field trips once a week. These field trips are an important part of her social development, and we, her parents, know how much she enjoys them and benefits from them. By adding the MyVoice IDTM to Kris’s everyday wardrobe we can rest assured that if she is ever separated from us or her teacher the vital information needed to get her back to us is readily available. It’s amazing how much peace of mind this small addition has brought us. Kris’s teacher, aids and speech therapist are using the MyVoice IDTM in the classroom as a means of communication. By playing the recorded message Kris is now able to repeat some of the information, a benefit we didn’t expect! Someday I hope to hear her voice recorded in place of mine. Since Kris has been using the MyVoice IDTM we have realized just how many of our loved ones should have their own, like our parents. When you think about it, there isn’t anyone who couldn’t or shouldn’t have his own MyVoice IDTM Kathleen T. Stone Allentown, PA |
