"Kris appears to be a normal teenager. It’s not until you try to communicate with her that you realize there is something different about her. She was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Development Disorder) at the age of two and is nonverbal. Now in eighth-grade, Kris’s life skills class is very active outside of the school building, participating in field trips once a week. These field trips are an important part of her social development.
